Texas Humane Legislation Network (THLN) is a mainstream voice for animal protection. Since 1975, THLN has championed the cause of animal protection for companion, homeless, working, farm and wild animals as well as endangered species across the state of Texas! THLN is a statewide grassroots organization and addresses many animal welfare concerns. Of course, we assume that the proposed bill will address how to fund the new operations and hopefully not an unfunded mandate. 1. When does the legislative process actually begin (sponsor of the bill is announced, bill is assigned a # or title)?

2. What three things can people do right now to get the ball rolling?

3. When people contact the legislators in their district what should they be letting them know? What is the best method of communication?

4. When will volunteer opportunities be made available? How does someone find out about events in their community?

5. ED Monica mentioned that the Texas Dept of State Health Services and the Texas Municipal League will be the primary opponents to this bill. What action can be taken against these groups now?

6. Is there anything that people can do to address the gassing currently taking place in cities and counties? Do you expect any changes to take place now that the word of an anti gassing bill is out there?

The Texas Municipal League exists solely to provide services to Texas cities. Since its formation in 1913, the League’s mission has remained the same: to serve the needs and advocate the interests of its members. Membership in the League is voluntary and is open to any city in Texas. THLN anticipates that the following groups will be the MAIN OPPONENTS to the anti-gassing bill - Texas Municipal League and the Texas Department of State Health Services! More info coming…

You can start talking with the legislators in your district NOW. Don’t wait until next year. The bill will need a sponsor and the more supporters the better. You can check the www.THLN.org website to locate and contact your elected officials.

THLN has 10 chapters throughout Texas so you CAN make a difference no matter where you live. You can volunteer at events, provide outreach and assist with marketing. The upcoming Wag-A-Dog fundraiser is a huge event.

THLN will primarily be focusing on the legislative aspect of this bill, but also provides education and advocacy. THLN has reported that they have spent over 10 years researching this issue!

Gassing cities and counties do not like it when the public discovers that they are gassing shelter animals. Their dirty little secret is then exposed. So, SPREAD the word!

Via a phone conversation in response to a March Public Information Act Request the City of Eldorado stated they are now sending their strays to Eldorado Vet Clinic!

In response to another March Public Information Act Request the City of San Diego, which currently contracts with the City of Alice (gassing), stated that when they hire an ACO sometime in the future that they will use injection to euthanize. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!? Lets go!

In an email from Dr. Bain Cate dated January 25, 2012 he noted that Victoria County gassed 3,552 animals in 2011!!!

What kind of doctor approves of gassing homeless and helpless animals to death??? MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT – COUNTY JUDGE DON POZZI HAS SAID “WE LEAVE THE RUNNING OF THAT DEPARTMENT TO DR. CATE”
